Heritage Design, Course Brief
12:41:00
In VRA 107E, Heritage Design class, we were given a project to search for an icon of Georgetown. The students are expected to learn and understand the historical and cultural contexts of Georgetown. This UNESCO World Heritage City is very well-known for its rich historical pasts and diverse cultures from different races and religious backgrounds.
For this project, every students were partnered in a group of two person. The group were randomly selected by the lecturer. My partner's name is Sohwah. The lecturer explained to us that the icon which we need to search should represent Georgetown based on its historical elements. We can choose any topic either it is tangible or intangible heritage.
By using Cultural Mapping method, students are needed to discover and explore history of Georgetown to make an icon. This icon is then represented on our design in a form of fridge magnet.
This subject teach us as student to appreciate and value our cultural identities by adopting these heritages on our designs so that they can be preserved and shared for our next generations.
